Character Design

This is from the last assignment of this week of Character Design with Julia Bracegirdle.

We were asked to design characters for a story called "Taste" by Roald Dahl.

 The story takes place in rich peoples house in England of the 50's (in my case it's the 60's..) over a fancy dinner.

Richard Pratt is a revolting snobbish wine taster in his 50's.

Mike Schofield is trying to look more rich and important then he really is, also in his 50's.

Louise Schofield is Mike's 'not so smart' daughter, 18 years old.

Mike ends up betting with Richard over the hand of his daughter.

I tryed to get out of my style by using different techniques that I learned this week.

Dam this week was awesome...

I was looking forward for Character Design week, and I learned even more then I expected.

We had Julia Bracegirdle as our character design teacher and her unconventional ways of approaching character design were very helpful for me. Her approach keeps me creative and lets me play around with the characters and get into results that I did not think of, and get some 'happy accidents'.

This is one of the assignments from this week, we were asked to make two characters that will fit 'Dr. Frankenstein's Experimental Pet Shop'

My goal for this week was to experiment with different ways of designing characters, get out of my usual  style and develop my own ways of approaching character design.

Layout for 'Bonnie and Clyde'

In the past two weeks we have been working with layout, with the teaching of Uri Kranot. Not an easy subject for me since I'm not very experienced with backgrounds. So it's great that I got some more experience with it, it really opened up my mind and eyes to how interesting environments can be and how much it can influence the mood of the scene.

This is the last assignment from the last week of Layout and After Effects. 

We were supposed to make layout for the story of Bonnie and Clyde. The scene is supposed to be the finishing scene of the movie, right after they get shot by the policemen's ambush.

The fun part is that we had a lot of freedom so we kind of got to be the directors, and not only get a storyboard and copy it. So this way I got to experiment with  how everything works together (composition, camera movement, camera shots, set design, and sound) to help me give the mood that I was aiming for.
